Recording Notification Popup - A modern, Shadowplay-style notification for OBS Studio that shows when recording starts and stops.

Hi OBS community!

I've developed a polished recording notification script that brings clean, Shadowplay-style alerts to OBS Studio.

Key Features:
✨ Sleek Modern UI - Dark theme with vibrant indicators
Smooth Animations - Elegant fade in/out transitions
✅ Smart Notifications - Only triggers for actual recording events
⏱️ 3s Display Time - Brief but noticeable
Top-Right Positioning - Consistent, unobtrusive placement

Not a bad script, I approve of such scripts as much as possible, I do not understand why for all this time, and did not make a normal indicator for the record! I have a different indicator, about 2 years ago was written, I do not like your that the indicator disappears, it would be good if the indicator remained lit and make it a little smaller in such cases

Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, a user named @Tobsa has already made a script called Recording Notification 2.0 that stays on the screen. I created this script to show an overlay when the user starts recording using hotkeys because I once recorded a 20-minute video only to realize I hadn’t actually started recording .

Sure, I can add a toggle in the settings to keep the "recording started" overlay on top of the screen and display the recording time (in seconds). Since @Tobsa already implemented something similar, I can adapt parts of the code and tweak it as needed.

I’ll keep updating this script whenever I have free time :D. I also plan to add pause/unpause notification overlays soon!

I am using PyQt5 library, When in obs game capture then the indicator is not visible on the recording but if I use screen capture then the recording is visible, I am looking for a library now that will fix this problem

In general, you're good for making a script that doesn't require libraries

I made a copy of the indicators like in Shadov Play.

This is exactly what I needed for recording fullscreen content using hotkeys. Such an underrated feauture from Shadowplay, Bandicam and the likes. Too often do I have to exit fullscreen mode to check that I hit the record button, or ended a recording, in case the hotkey didn't work on the first press or I pressed the wrong one, now I don't have too leave fullscreen mode to know if I'm recording or if I've ended one! Really great work, great implementation as well, I look forward to any updates for this one! :D

Thanks for the script, this is exactly what I was looking for. My only issue is that I can not get it to work, when I press my Save Replay hotkey, no pop up shows (clip is still saved). Any idea? This is how my folder looks like and OBS script (I have Python and libraries installed on my PC but diff version so still unpacked your folder but didn't touch it)

Anyone verify this working on Windows 11? I see only Windows 10 confirmed, and it does not seem to be working for me on 11.
