OBS set to 60fps but the video is not 60fps?

I’ve done many test recordings & changed a few settings on my pc, deleted apps I don’t need, disabled background apps, updated GPU drivers, changed the HZ of my monitor from 165HZ to 120HZ & my recordings still can’t get 60fps. Game mode is on & HAGS is disabled. What’s weird is that I have the clipping software on my pc called medal. Whenever I clip game footage from medal, it looks so smooth. The clips are actually 1080p 60fps from medal. But recording from OBS it’s either not 60fps or not a consistent 60fps…I don’t get it. Please help.

Medal captures directly via GPU, so it’s smoother than OBS, which relies on encoding settings. Switch OBS to hardware encoder (NVENC or AMD) instead of x264 to reduce CPU load. Set both base and output FPS to 60. Record to an SSD and match your game’s resolution, no scaling. Lower bitrate if needed to keep stable fps.
