I am surprised that there are no other posts about this on the forum. It's been happening for quite some time and I had originally thought it was the NDI issue but after the same identical issue happened to SDI, it is clearly on the encoder.
Note that I have not included logs in this as it won't make that much of a difference at this point since it has been documented in the DistroAV plugin forum and repo as well.
When using OBS on MacOS, the primary program output feed broadcast and recorded comes out perfectly in sync. No issues, no delays, and no concerns. That same program output feed over SDI using the blackmagic output and NDI using DistroAV plugin both start to have noticeable delays in the audio syncing after about 5 minutes of playback. I also see that the memory usage slowly increases as well which may be linked but I cannot confirm that.
Work arounds that people have suggested while the DistroNDI team tries to solve it on their end has been to use the monitor and output while using a DAW or alternative output device to then sync that up. While this works for some people, it really isn't a solution for those that already do audio routing with that functionality for other purposes, like monitoring specific inputs like the feature is intended.
I am currently running the same test on a PC and having no delay concerns, in fact, I am seeing the NDI audio sync is actually better than running the audio out a 2i2, through an X32 and back into another 2i2 on another device.
Essentially, what I'm asking is that how many of us are having this issue, or can confirm that the issue persists for them as well. All NDI tools, drivers, plugins are up to date on all systems, no other sources cause this desync, using the "audio only" mode on monitoring doesn't resolve it either.
