Question / Help Catalina support for HDMI Capture devices

I have both the elgato HD60 S and the digitnow HD Video Capture devices.
I need to capture HDMI signals at 1080p and 720p. I don't need 4K at this time.
I am able to use "Game Capture HD" software with the elgato HD 60S, and it works fine.
But I cannot use any device with OBS.

I downloaded obs-mac-24.0.6.dmg and installed it, so that is the version I have been trying to use.

I am a bit disappointed in Apple for making such major changes to OS X that basically destroy existing workflows, but that is another story.

I have read the other thread regarding Catalina but it applies mostly to screen captures, which I do not need. I need HDMI capture to work.

Is there something I can do, that will ensure OBS can work for my application?

thanks in advance.

To use the Elgato with OBS on MacOS you need to download OBS Link from Elgato's website. I don't believe this device has never supported OBS on MacOS, and Elgato's marketing materials have been somewhat misleading on this point, mentioning "OBS compatible" and "MacOS compatible" without mentioning that this does NOT mean "compatible with OBS when used on MacOS". The device requires OBS Link or their own software, as there is no standard video class device driver for it that works on MacOS. This is on Elgato, not Apple.

(Lots of other things are on Apple that are negatively affecting OBS on MacOS, such that I actively suggest people avoid this combination now if at all possible.)

No idea on the digitnow device, but any other Catalina-specific issues would be in the Catalina thread.
